Artville was founded in 2004 by Andi Debel

The idea

Andi Debel is the man of ideas and the founder of Artville. The inspiration comes from ”Kunst for alle” (Art for everybody) in the ”ridehuset” in Aarhus. The direct dialogue between artists and visitors and the idea of direct trade, inspired Andi to set up something similar in the capital of DK. Here the scale should just be bigger and the marketing more massive.

The idea behind Artville is to create a global platform for Danish as well as international artists. We want to open the possibility for direct trade and networking between artist and customer, without censorship and connecting links.

The beginning

Since 2004 we have held 5 art exhibitions in Copenhagen and are now the largest art exhibition for the artists.

The 2004 exhibition was held at the square by the Fisketorvet in a 6000m2 tent. 238 artists exhibited and Artville had around 6000 visitors.

The next three exhibitions were held in Tappehallerne at Tuborg harbour. Here the number of artists increased to more than 300 and the number of visitors went up to around 10.000.
